Flipbooks are a very popular interactive document format on the Internet. Unlike PDFs, e-books or traditional digital books, they simulate a physical book or magazine, so that users can flip through the pages to explore the information, as they would in a real document.
What for many people is a simple task, for others may represent an impossible barrier to overcome. Carrying out a bank transaction, consulting a PDF document, buying a shirt online, or booking a movie ticket, are just some of the tasks that we perform using mobile devices and computers, but which are out of reach for a large part of the population, for reasons of accessibility.
What are the characteristics of an accessible publication or document? Indexes and tables of contents, simple language, images with alternative description, design with high color contrasts, use of legible typography and use of consistent hierarchies.
